Valorie J. Thompson is President of Innovations Consulting Group, LLC. Based in Washington, DC, Innovations Consulting Group (ICG) provides consulting services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and scientific organizations as well as comprehensive scientific meeting management services.

Ms. Thompson has over twenty years experience within the pharmaceutical industry including senior leadership positions in sales management, global marketing, provider and patient educational programming, national account management, and medical affairs. As Director of Customer Programs for Searle Pharmaceuticals, she was responsible for the development and implementation of arthritis educational programs for providers and patients throughout North America, Europe, Africa and Australia. In particular the "Patient Partners" program received worldwide recognition and maintains a high level of visibility within academic centers worldwide. As Director of Clinical Programs, Ms. Thompson was responsible for the first clinical trial focused on comparative effectiveness of celecoxib within the Kaiser Permanente managed care system.

Ms. Thompson has worked with key thought leaders and collaborated with academic centers, medical associations and patient organizations worldwide. She has worked on the development of various rheumatology focused websites for clinicians as well as consumers, and has contributed to numerous publications. Over the past 10 years, ICG has developed and implemented numerous satellite symposia at major medical congresses, and has worked on many multi-supported educational programs. In 2008, ICG began work on a two-year initiative in collaboration with the Osteoarthritis Research Society International to provide the Food and Drug Administration with a critical appraisal of the science related to osteoarthritis and recommendations to update the 1999 draft guidance for industry. ICG planned and managed both private and public meetings with 10 committees and more than 150 participants representing industry and professional organizations worldwide. ICG is currently collaborating with the University of Rochester on ACTTION, a public private partnership with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to oversee the management of multiple meetings focused on opportunities to expedite the discovery and development of improved analgesic, anesthetic, and addiction treatments for the benefit of public health.

Ms. Thompson received her BS in Nursing and Psychology from the University of Maryland. She is a member of the Healthcare Businesswomen's Association and the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education.
